Clean Hands is a quick, enjoyable read that I managed to consume in 24 hours. Plenty of action is packed into less than 300 pages which prevents you from putting the book down. The tone of the book is also heavily realistic to which I wouldn’t question it if something like this played out in real life - something not all crime and detective books manage.

Hoffman’s use of strong female characters did not go unnoticed. Both of his female characters are strong willed although they each possess flaws which make them more relatable and intriguing. However, I would argue that it’s the use of characters that lets this book down slightly. For me, there was too many sub characters, and whilst I could see how they contributed to the plot, it made it hard to keep up with who was who at points. I also noticed that the ‘bad guys’ of this novel all came from minority groups, almost a bit like type casting.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of private investigator type novels.
