This is a fast paced drama based on a simple premise of an apparently naive victim of a stolen phone, which soon unravels to become more complicated. The plot thickens when the content and therefore the value of the phone becomes increasingly evident. At times there are too many characters to keep track of. The trick is to concentrate on the main protagonists - Elizabeth Carlyle and Valencia Walker- who are overall believable, if not particularly likeable; this is no doubt because the author is himself a private investigator.
The story combines elements of traditional private investigators with "Suits" like legal shenanigans.
It is worthy of a good read, but I would question the value of some of the characters; overpopulating it at the cost of the story line at times.
The 275 pages do, however, fly quickly as the speed of the plot does not abate.
