This is a lovely 'feel good' book for those who like happy endings.
Jubilee, who has not stepped foot outside her house for 8 years, but is forced to seek employment in order to pay bills after the death of her estranged mother. The only problem is that she has an allergy to human skin which means that any direct contact with another person could prove fatal. On her way back from her job at the library, she rescues 10 year old Aja from a river and administers CPR thus risking her own life. Jubilee and Eric, Aja's father become good friends but are unable to have any physical contact with each other.
Eric is struggling to be a good parent to both Ellie, a teenager who lives with his ex-wife, and Aja, who Eric adopted when his parents were killed in a plane crash the previous year.
I loved the humour and honesty in this book. I also enjoyed the frequent references to well known books which were dotted about in the narrative.
