I didn’t start this book thinking I would enjoy it, although I had been intrigued by the first look I had.. I wasn’t crazy about the cover- and found the typeset small & dense looking ( or maybe it’s just my eyes!)
But, as I got going I actually found a very unusual and quirky story, with lots of humour, told compassionately so we empathise with Jubilee. It makes you challenge and reappraise a life we so casually take for granted and in doing that maybe stands as a metaphor for so many people who are allergic to life in various ways and have to improvise.
By the end I did care about the main characters & was moved by the situations they found themselves in.
For anyone looking for something a little different this summer, I think they will enjoy this book
