It's all a little bit trying to hard to be current and witty and on trend. Saints preserve us there's even a little bit of woke in there. There's just something desperately sad about the whole premise of the book, every forty-something I know isn't this alienated from the world or this adrift from their former lives. Even the single ones still have relationships with married friends and manage nights out together. It just feels like the main character is the summation of every tired trope and dried out cliche about hitting middle age.

I was looking forward to this as the front cover made me grin. Sadly, the contents are nothing new and the execution left me wanting.
