Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter is a funny, modern, relevant read which will appeal to a wide range of readers. The style is loosely podcast / diary in nature with several emails and other missives slotted in. It is quite a weighty book but doesn’t feel that long when reading. Cricket is one of the stand out characters - she is getting used to life without her husband and yet does not allow grief to totally consume her. She continues trying to make the best of any opportunities and in doing so brings warmth and friendship to Nell. There are aspects to Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up which are slightly predictable but overall this still makes for a good read.
