"Someone needs to tell it how it really is, when sh*t happens and life doesn't work out how you expected.."

That's exactly what Nell Stevens (a self confessed forty - something f**k up) does in this hilariously funny, Bridget Jones esq story written by Alexandra Potter.

I loved this book, it was funny, with moments that have you laughing out loud & the story itself was highly relatable. It takes those thoughts, you know the ones that tell you that you're not good enough, that you've failed at life, as it's not like those perfect little squares you see on everyone else's Instagram, along with those feelings that everybody else has their sh*t together & you don't, the disappointment you feel because of it all & completely turns them around. Nell learns to love herself regardless of her circumstances & in the process teaches us that we ALL have those thoughts & are not alone in feeling this way.

The story walks us through a year of Nell's life after a broken off engagement & the struggles it brings her, knowing she's the only forty - something in her life, who's single, has no children and who doesn't own a house. It involves an unlikely friendship between Nell and a widow in her eighties named Cricket, who teaches Nell not to worry about becoming older, but to be concerned with becoming dull. - a great way to look at life don't you think?!
