Initially I was drawn to the book because of the title and although I'm not yet a forty-something, I have definitely felt like a f##k up for majority of my adult life.
I really related to this book, I think most readers will. I loved the main character, Nell. She was funny, relatable and kind. Her relationship with Cricket was wonderful and I loved how it was written. It was also a good look at how you never know what goes on behind closed doors and that we only ever see what people want us to see. That's social media for you!
The size was daunting at just over 500 pages and I do think it could have been reduced a little but I did love following a year in the life of Nell. Whilst the chapters were short, some of the monthly segments were quite large.
If you a looking for a fast, funny, all of the emotions type of book then I would fully recommend this one.
