Family friends relationships

I am so pleased that I perservered with this book. I didn't like the main character Nell at the beginning. I found her to be too negative with a me, me, me attitude. Nell has returned from America to England after ten years, a failed engagement and business venture. She rents a room from landlord Edward and his dog Arthur while catching up with her friends and their perfect lives. She begins an unlikely friendship with a recently widowed octogenarian. This is where Nell starts to become more likeable and her negativity less irritating. This is a book about family, friends and relationships the ups, downs and everything inbetween. This was an enjoyable read once the story developed. Worth reading.
