I absolutely loved the sound of this book but it just didn’t work for me. I felt like something was missing throughout and that in turn took the enjoyment away from the book for me. I awarded 3 stars based on the fact that I’ve enjoyed some of the authors previous works over the past couple of months. This one, whilst it had its wit about it felt more dragged out in some sense, like it was far too long. The author I felt could have concluded the book after 200 odd pages.
I think that it may just be that my tastes have changed slightly as I would have normally enjoyed this type of book.
Though I will be buying the book for family members who I feel would enjoy it more and maybe even resonate with the characters and their lives.
All in all, a book that had a great premise but ultimately fell flat for me. A solid three stars. Thank you to Readers First and the publisher for my gifted copy.
