Journalist Nell Stevens, originally from the Lake District, moves to London and then New York City where she meets (or so she thinks) the man of her dreams. Following him to sunny California, they start a business and get engaged.
Fast forward 5 years, newly single, she flies back to London. Unable to afford a flat, she rents a room in a house owned by a gorgeous eco friendly fanatic. She gets a job writing obituaries and befriends the widow of the famous playwright who is the subject of her very first obituary.
