This book starts in an intriguing, voyeuristic way, which immediately pulls the reader in, as we want to find out more about the characters, especially the tote-carrying woman.
After this opening tableau, we are introduced to Selena, and her situation, followed by the enigmatic Martha. Could one of these be the woman from the opening scene? Was it the nanny?
I liked the way Selena’s impression of Martha slowly changed during the train journey, from confidante to something more sinister. And what was the obstruction on the line, which delayed the train?
The vivid red on the front cover sets this book up to be a dramatic, plot-twisting read, and I’d love to find out what happens next!
