Two women meet on a train, both are having trouble in their relationships, how to solve their problems is the big question. In the prologue Lisa Unger relates an account of a woman watching and following a married man who is cheating on his wife. The author doesn't disclose the woman's identity, can it be the man's wife or is someone else involved. The author then introduces her readers to Selena who has missed her usual train home from work and must wait for the next one. While she waits in her office she checks the camera she's set up in her children's playroom after suspecting her husband is having an affair with the nanny to see, once again, her husband having sex with the nanny. Next we read about Anne who has foolishly become involved in an affair with her boss. Unfortunately his boss, and the owner of the investment company they both work for is also his wife Selena catches the next train home at 7.45 and meets a woman who calls herself Martha. This is when we read about the Confessions on the 7.45 from the title as Martha admits to having an affair with her boss who she descibes as a predator and claims she was under pressure or she might have most her job. Selena confesses that she knows her husband is having an affair with the nanny although doesn't mention the camera. The two women converse for a while and Martha states it would be great fi these men could just disappear and admits that she's imagined how much easier her life would be if her boss died from something like a heart attack as she would be able to keep the job she loves. She asks Selena if it wouldn't make her life easier if her husband just ceased to exist as well. This first look is a real teaser, are Anne and Martha the same person, will these men disappear from their lives, what happens next for Selena and, most intriguing, what happens to the men in their lives. Confessions on the 7.45 is shaping up to be a great read, one I'm really looking forward to reading and finding out the answers to all these questions.
