Selena Murphy meets a mysterious stranger named Martha on the 7:45 train home. Martha shares a confession with Selena, she's having an affair with her boss. Selena shares a confession with Martha, she suspects her husband is sleeping with their nanny. Selena's confession is safe with a total stranger whom she never expects to see again. That is, until she receives a text message from Martha. Selena doesn't remember giving out her telephone number, so she ignores the message. Days later her nanny goes missing. Who is Martha? What does she want with Selena? What happened to the nanny?

This is a captivating and suspenseful story with a few surprises and twists towards the end. The entire story is told from multiple viewpoints. Each chapter is titled with the characters name so that the reader knows which viewpoint they are reading. The author has crafted intriguing characters with considerable care. The well crafted plot unfolds at a fast pace allowing the reader to get through this thrilling page-turner as quickly as possible.

At first we see the story through Selena's eyes and it is Selena's nanny, Geneva, who goes missing. The novel mainly tackles the complexities of family, marriage and relationships. I personally enjoyed reading how Pearl's story unfolded. At first I was picking the book up and putting it down, and forgetting what had happened. In order to fully grasp the unfolding twists this really is a book to read in one sitting. About halfway through I could see where the entire plot was going but the plot continued, the twists were married up and it was neatly finished off.

All the women in the story were flawed but still likeable and I felt that I wanted them all to have positive outcomes. The author worked really well to keep the suspense throughout which is what keeps the reader turning the pages. I was deeply invested in the outcome of the entire plot. This was a very entertaining thriller that I absolutely felt compelled to read to the end and to unravel the overlapping mysteries of the characters.

I may not have picked this book up from the shelf but only because I'm not usually looking for thriller or suspense novels. However after reading this page-turner from Lisa Unger I will have to expand on my options. I will be looking out for more novels from this author. I can't write much more without giving too much about this story away but I highly recommend this book to thriller fans and to anyone looking to getting into this genre.
