2.5 I didn’t enjoy this.
Oddly, despite all the chaos of the threads, I predicted the ending pretty early on. The characters were all pretty awful and unsympathetic which made it difficult to engage or become invested in the story.
The less-than-subtle “men are all horrible abusers and cheaters” got exceptionally tiresome quite quickly. Like, every single male character was a predator in some way and the women, despite doing some pretty horrid things, were all painted as blameless victims.
Selena was a total wet wipe and her inner monologue was not a pleasant place to spend so much of the narrative.
The overall plot was a bit much. I can suspend disbelief as much as the next girl but this was asking way too much for little payoff.
In my view, this was a book that tried to do too many things and didn’t succeed at any of them particularly well.
