This book had an usual premise and really grips your attention. I just wanted to keep reading and get some answers. Unger does a good job of building up the tension, even in what sound like fairly normal scenarios. I did struggle to connect with the characters a little - Selena was a bit too passive and willing to stay in her unhappy domestic situation. My favourite sections were probably those written from Pearl's perspective - her story was unique and she became a very complex, interesting character. There were plenty of twists along the way, some more guessable than others. The ultimate ending was quite satisfying - we get enough information but some aspects are left open to your interpretation.
