Lisa Unger's Confessions on the 7:45 is an extremely interesting book, the cover is stunning and mixed the everyday (commuting on the underground) with the vivid red coat of the woman on the cover. The connection of the different characters we are introduced to throughout the chapters is a key aspect to the book, and the prose of how they were presented and described worked well. Just like the mix of the everyday and the unusual on the front over, the mix of normal domestic life and criminal activity works well as it is woven into the journey of the book, and we get a glimpse of the danger by the connotations of the bright red coat in the centre of the front cover that we may have initially skipped over, but after reading the book it becomes like a warning or danger sign. It also makes us think, we don't know who we are coming into contact in our daily commute, each with their own personality, thoughts, struggles, vices, fears and domestic lives. Unger brought that home in this novel.
