I’ve been a Rory Clements fan for many years and loved his historical murder mystery books with John Shakespeare. So therefore I had very high hopes about the book.
Sadly, I was really disappointed with it. The characters to me weren’t that well developed and I found the story difficult to follow because of the flow. I felt like the story lost its way half way through and I found myself losing interest. I even struggled to finish the book.
The ending of the book is quite good, it’s just a shame the rest of the book wasn’t to this quality.
I’d certainly read another Shakespeare book by Clements but would seriously consider not reading another book of this genre. Just not for me I’m afraid.
