I love reading about the Underworld in Greek Mythology and as this was the main setting for this book - I was truly in my element! The rich and imaginative descriptions of the Underworld and the superb world building pull you in and keep you hooked. The plot was exciting and enticing, full of adventure and danger that creates a lot of suspense and tension.
There is a hint of romance with an enemies to lovers trope that I always seem to like in books, and this was well executed. The dynamics of the relationships between all the characters was brilliantly done and their progression. It also gave me Hunger Games vibes with it being about a group of people trying to survive who all have rivalries going on between each other.
Deida is the main character who was very likeable and appealing. She is a soul severer who helps the dead move onto the Underworld. She desperately wants to be free from this burden and you can’t help but root for her and hope she gets her freedom.
The ending leaves you wanting more and I cannot wait to read the next book
