Look, the book has Thanatos in it and if playing Hades has done anything, it's rekindled my adoration for his adaptation in literally any media.

I'm a complete sucker for anything based on greek mythology, so it's no wonder that I absolutely had to get my hands on this when I saw it.

First and foremost, the cover is stunning. Micaela Alcaino really outdid themselves with it, and I look forward to it gracing my bookshelf for a long while.

Secondly, this ticks a lot of boxes for me. I have a big soft spot for adapting the tales of mythology (not just greek ones) and exploring the worlds of those tales is so satisfying which I feel is something the book does well. Do I think that some of the trek across the underworld could be cut out for a more streamlined experience? Sure. Did I still enjoy most of the events? Yes.

In terms of plot, there's a few twists that I absolutely saw coming but this doesn't necessarily mean they don't deserve to be in there. The characters and their motives are pretty solid and within the realms of belief, even if I would have made very different decisions to Deina.

Ultimately, I read this in like... two days. If that isn't an indicator I enjoyed it, I don't know what else to say.
