Deina is an indentured servant of Hades on Earth, and is desperately working towards freedom as fast as she can. When the opportunity to completely wipe her debt comes along, she jumps at the chance which sees her venturing intot he Underworld with a team she doesn't trust to find a soul and return it to the land of the living.
This fantasy is steeped in stories originating from Greek mythology, some of which I knew better than others, and was a thoroughly gripping read! The characters were engaging and flawed, which I adore, and the plot was fast paced once the meat of the story got started. The beginning was a little bit slow, but there were enough questions raised to keep me intrigued and continue reading. And that cover is incredible! Absolutely beautiful artwork, it drew me to the book straight away. Overall, a real treat of a book. I already can't wait for the sequel!
