Deina is willing to risk everything for her freedom. Claimed as a child by Hades and taken away to work as a soul-severer, her life seems luxurious but the toll on her and the others is very high. As far as she is concerned, she is still a slave to her house and to the tyrant Orpheus.
I have heard of quite a few different takes on the story of Orpheus and Eurydice but I think this one was really unique. It was well thought-out with a clever twist I didn't see coming at all.
The authors are so good at immediately immersing you in the world and story. There is some wonderful character building and back story, making you care for them and feel really invested in their lives.
I needed to take some deep breaths when I finished. There is a good conclusion to the current story so you're not left hanging too badly, but I still really want to find out what happens next!
