'The Daughter of Darkness' by Katherine and Elizabeth Corr is the first book in a new duology (House of Shadows) from this writing duo, and is inspired by an ancient Greek Myth. Previously the Corr's have written 'A Throne of Swans' and 'A Crown of Talons - also a duology set in a fantasy kingdom and a Witches trilogy. I must admit I do enjoy a Greek Myth and retellings so I grabbed at the chance to read 'Daughter of Darkness' - particularly as the writers blended many elements of Greek myths and famous characters into their imagined tale.
It features a cast of characters in a game of wits, strength and survival through the Underworld. The setting was immersive and a well structured narrative served the characters well. It's a cruel world, where trust is hard to come by - there's some betrayals and some shocks along the way.
It's great escapism and a fun read.
