We follow Deina, a soul severer with magic gifted by Hades. All she wants is freedom and when the long-standing ruler, Orpheus comes with a task. Deina agrees in the hope of freeing herself and a friend. But to win she must enter an alliance with her fellow soul severers and survive the underworld but that could be easier said than done.
We read this book altogether and it was definitely an interesting one to buddy read. There was a lot of intrigue and you kept wondering who you could trust. Though one of the potential love interests I trusted more than some of my fellow readers, ha! I was kinda pleased by the end of it that I liked him.
I liked how the gods were handled in this one. We had some mentions of some lesser-known gods which was a lot of fun. Plus some gender playing about which I always appreciate. Especially when involving gods as why would they stick to mortal ideas of gender? Love it.
This book was pretty fun and I'm curious to see where it goes next.
