I loved some aspects of the book, but not others.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I loved the characters - particularly Deina, but wasn't entirely keen on parts of the storyline and some aspects of the writing. Some sentences felt a little clunky, and they could have been written more effectively. The premise was fairly unique and I loved the way the old Gods mixed with real-life. However, I found some of the story difficult to read and a tad cringey. While the book was an okay read, it wasn't something I would pick up again. I likely wouldn't buy the sequel either.
The cover is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and the character development was great, but I found the storyline and some of the writing to be lacking.
Three stars is a book that I found to be okay, and enjoyed reading for the most part, but it wasn't quite there yet, in my opinion. Compared to other books in this genre, I believe there are better options.
