This is a fantasy novel based on the myths of the Greek gods. I thought I would find it hard to follow initially because of my minimal knowledge of Greek mythology (and I could not get the names to stick in my head!) but this did not stop me from quickly becoming engaged in the story, which was actually easy to follow and understand.
It follows a young woman who goes by the given name Deina, a supposed servant of one of the gods, unwillingly following the orders of a Tyrant and a mysterious stranger watching her. Not only is the main character engaging but so are the other supporting characters who are all just as fierce and yet heart warming. It is easy to warm to them all and the undercurrent of family and loyalty is very subtly written in throughout.
I enjoyed the adventure set within the Greek mythology and am very much looking forward to the next instalment.
