I can see this book being loved if you like Greek inspired, quest driven books.
It is well written but it never quite captured my attention, I kept putting it down. There would be hints of exciting things to come but it didn't delve into them enough. For instance there is a character we get a preview about early on, I think that character could have been featured more. There is a book two and I suspect this book served more as a build up.
The worldbuilding turned out to be the most interesting part for me especially the soul severer and politics and the twist on the Greek myth was interesting. The main character was multidimensional and I quite liked her, although I didn't agree with all of her actions I could see why. I felt the build up with the love interest felt too rushed toward the end.
Overall it is well written but something felt missing. There is a book two and I might pick it up on release.
