this was fun, i enjoy YA greek mythology stories because they tend to focus on the adventure side of lore. This book is entirely quest driven. The more complex nature of the gods that is shown is just what we need!

i mean, the world of greek myths is a violent place and this story definitely shows that side of it. People tend to twist the stories and build white lies. But this book. i think it made this version of the underworld that the characters experienced that much more dangerous and exciting. Danger keeps you on your toes. it made everything feel more high stakes, which i liked, i also like how this doesnt retell a specific greek myth, but just takes place in the world in general. No time skips or tellaporting to another time line. it allows for a lot of creative room, which i think the author used quite nicely. She didn't lock her creativity in a cage by adding restrictions.

overall, a pretty strong and entertaining start to a series!
