Pretty predictable fantasy

When I first read the premise for this novel, I thought I would immediately be hooked by it. I love Greek mythology and I thought this re-imagining of the Orpheus and Eurydice tale sounded so amazing. While I think the plot and world-building was fantastic, I didn't love this book.

I think my main problem with this book was that it really felt like predictable and like the characters were caricatures. All of the men in this novel were so misogynistic and their character arcs were relating to finding out that Deina was smart and capable and actually worth something, even though she was a woman.

I absolutely hated the love interest of this novel. He was horrible to Deina and I don't think I could have forgiven him for what he did earlier in their history. It was a really strange pairing.

Lastly, the plot had so many predicable elements. I absolutely knew which character was going to betray Deina. It was obvious from the beginning.

I really wanted to like this book, but I couldn't become invested in it. It just wasn't for me, but I think other people who haven't read as much fantasy would really enjoy this.
