A sluggish start, an undynamic Inspector and a familiar premise!

The uninspiring opening of this novel with the seemingly laid back Inspector from Zurich CID makes for a pretty forgettable introduction which didn’t tempt me to want to read further.

Combined with the familiar premise and the promise of a host of secrets being unearthed in the life of the victim, the plot is unoriginal and I have read numerous stories which all fall back on that same aspect. Affairs, drugs, corruption, crime... very little is left with the potential to still surprise..

Having seen it all before and given the corpse is by definiton resolutely silent, I think I would rather see someone more dynamic leading the investigation and digging into the dirt! Pass!
