This generally looks like a good detective story. The first read didn't grab me but then it didn't put me off either, I would quite happily keep reading if I had the entire book in front of me. I get the feeling that this detective is part of a series which can sometimes be annoying when you don't know the back story - hopefully it is a standalone novel as well.
