I love the cover of this book - it creates intrigue and matches the contents well. The plot interests me but there are a few irritations I have with it so far. For a story set in Roman times there are far too many anachronistic terms already - describing someone's face as 'beat-up' is the worst example as it's such a modern term, but there were several others. I love reading historical fiction, and the author seems to have researched other aspects well, just not the language!
