I really enjoyed Ascension when I first read it. It was by far one of my favourite books of the year and I was eagerly awaiting the sequel, Distortion, to released. Distortion was, therefore, a book that I loved from start to finish and devoured in a couple of hours. It was that good.

I think that although I love this series so much, the book can take a while to get into. This is because of the different POVs that the book takes as it can be a very jarring experience at first but this is always something that I get into a love as it is a very interesting way to tell a story. I also think that it works so well to tell a novel that has so many characters, in different places and planets.

I also really loved the characters in this book especially those in the twelve that are on Mars. I think it would be so easy to not develop the characters in the book but Victor did it so well. I think that all of them all have a quality that you can tie to them and I do not think that you ever mix up the characters at all and I really did like them.

I think that although the last one focused a lot on romance which I guess it had to be with the aim of the book and I loved this when I read it and still would if I read it now, I liked the turn that this book went. I do like hard sci-fi things and I definitely wanted to see and know all of the science things that happened due to the plot twist that happened at the end of Ascension.

There is romance in this book but it definitely took a back seat in this one but the romance that does take part I really loved. This is also what is involved in the cliffhanger at the end which really shook me up.

Finally, I think that Victor Dixen just knows how to write a good cliffhanger. Like the ending of this book is just so great that I had to read it twice to make sure that I knew what I was reading. I just need to find out what happens next!

The Verdict:

Distortion is a sequel that lives up to the hype and love that I had with Ascension. Now I have to wait until April to read Book 3.
