I’m not a fan of science fiction, but when I read the first 30 pages of this book I felt like it could be for me after all and I read on. This is a strange mixture of the reality television program Big Brother ams Love Island with a one-way journey to Mars thrown in for good measure.

The start is more romantic fiction, with a bit of drama thrown in rather than sci-fi. It’s initially a light-hearted book, that moves you through the plot and space quite quickly. However, in the middle it seemed to slow down a little and I skipped a few pages to move forward faster.

There are a few questions that this book doesn’T really answer in depth - perhaps if i’d Read the first novel in the series it may have been different. For example, how did this habitat really get built on Mars?

I was hoping that this book would have a conclusion and a neat ending as a stand alone book, but it’s clear the author wants us to read the next in the series to find out the answers to the many, many unanswered questions. I may consider this if the book is reviewed positively, but I don’t think I care enough about the characters to want to find out what happens next. A good start, a plodding middle and a rather frustrating end,
