I read Ascension earlier in the year and I freaking loved it! Seriously, it was a breath of fresh air from what I normally spend my time reading. So when Distortion came out, I read it quicker than I expected.
A lot of focus goes to the twelve pioneers as their relationships develop from where we left off in Ascension.
I also loved the descriptions of the planetary and space stuff, it really helps define the place and the setting. It also adds to the weird atmosphere that goes around during the whole story.
Much like most reality shows, this allows us to get a much more in-depth look at the characters and reveals much about their past and personality in the way they interact with one another.
