Distortion picks up from where we left off in Ascension, our 12 Astronauts are all in the visiting room together having just found out about the Noah Report and they now face the decision whether to carry on with the mission and head on to Mars or turn the Cupido around and try to make the journey back to Earth knowing that they may not make it back alive.
I will try to refrain from any spoilers in this review but I don’t think it would be a spoiler to say they decided to continue with the mission to Mars.
With that decision out of the way, there was the matter of the heart lists and choosing who they wanted to marry once reaching Mars, I won’t lie I had been rooting for Marcus the whole time during Ascension so I was extremely happy that Leonor chose him.
I enjoyed seeing the group interact together and seeing more of their personalities come out, especially during tense situations, they all have their own strengths to help the group- I have to say, Alexei is definitely my least favourite- he just seems so arrogant, I felt like I was scowling whenever he spoke, I honestly don’t know why Kirsten fell for him.
Leonor is still my favourite out of the girls, she is definitely a soft-hearted girl with a hard shell.
I really loved the different subplots going on throughout the novel- these subplots are all told in third person, as opposed to being in first person like we are as Leonor.
It was interesting (and also very scary) to see how far Serena would go to keep the Noah Report secret, she really will stop at nothing to make sure nobody finds out about it.
What started as a mission to colonise Mars and make something of their lives, turns into a mission to stay alive without letting the viewers know that anything was amiss.
Victor seems to love his cliff hangers- my god that ending had me on the edge of my seat, I really need to know what is going to happen next unfortunately though I have a few months to wait for Collision.
Collision is due to be released on April 18th 2019 (I may have to pre-order this ASAP because I will be in Paris that week)
I would 100% recommend this series to anyone.
