I really didn't like Maestra - the first in this series. It was not my kind of novel and certain plot twists turned me against it more.
However, after hearing reviews of Domina I decided to read the first few chapters and give it a second chance. Honestly, I'm still not sure.

As a positive, there seems to be a stronger story line underlying this book compared to the first. My main gripe with Maestra was that I couldn't connect with the main character, but within the first few chapters of Domina you are provided with a short but significant insight into the past and why Judith is the way she is. If only that had been in the first book! I'm hoping this trend continues.

The more violent scenes are still a bit of a worry for me. Personally I like to know the reasons behind the plot twists and events. As with the first book, there is not enough of the "why" for me and too much unnecessarily foul language & seemingly gratuitous sex scenes.

I want to give this novel the benefit of the doubt and say the "why" will come along later, but I can't bring myself to read the full story. This is my personal opinion, others may love this...!
