I loved Holly Seddon's first novel but I actually think this one is even better. At the heart of the story is a family saga, a story about two families torn apart....about siblings and the complex web of relationships and secrets that can sometimes manifest in step family situations...and then layered on top of that is a very, very cleverly layered plot that you'll think you'll have all figured out, but you'll be wrong. The ending is perfect. A total surprise and yet when you look back you'll realise that all the clues were there all along. Reading this book reminded me of watching those brilliant and now iconic movies of the 80s and 90s, movies like Single White Female and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and Fatal Attraction......you know the ones, where you go so deep into the heads of the main characters that when things start to go wrong you really feel it, almost as if you were there in the scene yourself.
A writer at the top of her game, come summer 2017 I reckon this book is going to be massive.
