I found this book a little slow and confusing to be honest. I had heard good things about Holly Seddon and was looking forward to picking this one up but it just fell a little flat for me. She is clearly a brilliant writer but I just didn't really connect with the story.

The duel timelines was fine but if I left it a little long between picking it up I did get slightly confused as to what was going on. On the plus this book tackles many important issues such as drug addiction, coercive behaviour, homophobia and mental health problems. Although it is not a comfortable read I felt the author broached these subjects with compassion and although I didn't warm to the characters I'm sure they will definitely resonate with some people and I can see why people love this author.

There was a dramatic twist at the end which I didn't see coming so this redeemed the story a little bit for me and I think it ended well. I'm not in a rush to pick up this author again but it wasn't all bad and I can see why she is well loved.
