Well I’m hooked! From the cover you know this is one of new breed psychological thrillers currently filling the top 20 list in all the bookshops. Probably completely normal family with a hidden secret, well yes, they steal little girls and lock them up in their house.
Starting with the husband, Malcolm showing his wife, Harriet a photo album, of what I can only presume is the child he is about to abduct, she is over the moon about the new addition to the family. Next, the chilling abduction itself, seeming well practiced and stealth as Malcolm takes the chosen child from her bed whilst her parents sleep unknowingly next door. The way they are just so easy about it made my hair stand on end. So when ‘Poppy’ is taken to her new home she is to be looked after by her predecessor, Daisy, who they had taken 3 years previously.
It is all so outrageous yet completely possible, but what happens now? The police will surely get involved after the abduction, but there will probably be no clues. It had to be Poppy she was chosen, no accident, why? I know what I think, but I would love to read the rest to find out if I’m right.
