I raced through this book in the space of a day, because I literally couldn't put it down.
Poppy is abducted during the night from her bedroom by Malcolm, who has chosen her to be his daughter. When he takes her home to his wife Harriet we find they already have another "daughter" Daisy.
It's a strange set up though as both girls are kept locked in a room at all times.
When Malcolm decides they need to add a third girl, Ellie, everything starts to unravel.
For the detectives investigating there seems to be no link between the two recent abductions of Poppy and Ellie and it is only when stumbling upon Daisy's abduction some years before that they start to slowly connect dots.
This is a taut and pacey thriller with a real sting in the tale at the end.
I wish there had been a little more attention to the link between the girls as we only discover the full truth in what felt like a bit of a throwaway chapter at the end.
I shall definitely be checking out other books by this author!
