I'm a big fan of David's books, however this book for some reason did not get me to react the same as some of his others.
i feel this book could have been made more interesting in one of the other characters point of view as the cop's story was not as exciting as it could have been.
Characters like Benson however, really intrigued me, if this had been in his point of view i feel this could have been written in more depth and maybe interested me a little more.
overall i feel that written in the POV of the cop and a female sidekick is a bit too basic and predicted.

There are a few happenings in the story that also did not get explained throughout the book, i was hoping some of it would get explained by the end or we would finally find out deeper meanings, but instead i am still left in the dark without a clue of some of the characters plants.
For example, a backstory of the cop and sidekick could have been a way of explaining them as a pair and really giving them a character rather than rushing into the story. As well as Malcolm not having a very explained character arc. i was intrigued about what was hidden in Malcolms study and his plans throughout the story. However this did not have a result and i still am confused about what Malcolms point in the story was.

although positively i did find the book nice to read and the ending did seem like a very big surprise which i enjoyed quite a lot. the words were very sophisticated even for the younger characters and it seemed very smart and enjoyable to me.
a great read if you're looking for that mystery but are willing to aside from the missing peices that should've been explained.
