Wow. This book is brilliant. Very dark.
The mother appears to be in total ignorance of the nightmare they have created by taking these children into their home. She lives in a world of her own. Building their family is the most important thing to both of them. How you can be in such denial is beyond me.
I can feel the need and longing that Daisy feels to go home. Obviously she has become institutionalised, but has not forgotten how her previous life felt. She calls the couple mum and dad to tell them what they want to hear. She knows she has to play the game.
Daisy is shaken when she hears the news that she is going to gain a little sister. She realises that she needs to look after this younger girl and help her adjust. However, part of her is glad to have an ally.
I would love to see how this book pans out. Well done the author.
