Wow, there are not many books which when I've finished I immediately want to re-read to see the clues I'd missed, but this book was one of those!
This is the third book about DS Nathan Cody, although I had not read the previous two this did not matter as the story worked as a standalone novel. He is a likeable main character, and the interplay between him and Webley is enjoyable and believable.
The story starts as a police procedural, focusing on the kidnapping of a six year old girl, who is taken to be a sister to another girl who was abducted several years earlier( which the police do not connect immediately). It is well written, fast paced and gripping. In the middle comes the first twist.... followed by another soon after which hooks you in even more.
The ending literally made me gasp with shock...and go back to see if I could have spotted it earlier.
A fantastic book, I'll be going back to read the first 2 Cody's, and I'd thoroughly recommended this to anyone who enjoys a thrilling and shocking police story.
Great book.
