Agonisingly Bad

With a premise as enticing as this, it's tough not to pick the book up and start devouring its pages immediately. So that's what I did. And unfortunately, things began to go downhill fast.

The novel opens with the protagonist waking to find herself strapped to an operating table with a man standing above her, threatening to operate. From here, not only does the plot get worse and increasingly more implausible, my will to live begins to dangle dangerously by a single thread.

The author seems to have an uncanny knack for creating the blandest characters imaginable. And if you happen to enjoy stories with characters brimming with backstory and personality? Forget it. This book fails to bring even that to the table. I don't think a single character showed so much as an inch of believable motivation, and honestly, a lot of the characters felt useless.

Personally, the biggest gripe I had with this so-called thriller is just how excruciatingly bad the dialogue is. It left me wondering if the author had ever actually heard people engage in spoken conversation before.

I would advise anyone looking for an engaging, suspense-filled, character-driven novel to look elsewhere.
