Waking up, Dr. Alex Taylor saw the bright lights of the operating theatre and heard the familiar beeps of monitors and sterile packages being opened. Confused by what’s going on she takes a look at her surroundings — strapped down to an operating table and hooked up to various devices, oh, and completely naked except for the sheet otherwise covering her. Dr. Taylor assumes she’s been in a serious accident whilst on her way to meet her boyfriend after finishing work. She then notices someone is in the room. She call’s for help but the person doesn’t say anything, and she can’t see their face because of the light blinding her. When they do speak, she hear’s a male voice, but she doesn’t recognise it as one of the surgeons. All she has to do is answer one simple question…”What does ‘no' mean?”.

The next time she awakes, she’s in a hospital bed — at the hospital she works — and surrounded by fellow co-workers. When she ask’s what happened to her they explain that she was found unconscious in a parking lot. She explains what happened to her in the operating theatre, but nobody believes her. From this moment on she does everything in her power to prove too everybody that something DID happen to her that night and that she wasn’t crazy like everyone thinks. Even after there are more victims, nobody believes her story or that any of these attacks could be in any way related. Nobody. It was up to her and her alone to get the police, her co-workers and her boyfriend to change their minds.

After reading the first few chapters of this book, credit has to be given to the author. It’s certainly one of the weirder starts to a book I have read. The first 25% of the book particularly went very quick as the author had me captivated by the story line. After this I started to find it difficult as the pace slowed and I struggled to connect with some of the characters. However, the latter 25% of the book as exactly the same as the first - I couldn’t put the book down as it was so fast paced and full of so many surprising twists along the way. The ending certainly doesn’t disappoint. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would defiantly recommend it to others.
