#throwback This was recommended to me by a colleague about a year ago. “The worst thing that’s ever happened to you...and no one believes it’s true.” I couldn’t wait to read it!

Fantastic opening and first chapter. I do love a good medical thriller and I was immediately terrified. Unfortunately, in my opinion, that was where the terror stopped. After the first chapter the story didn’t seem to thrill me, no chills or creepiness, and not what I expect a thriller to be.

It was incredibly frustrating that no one believed Alex, and I disliked the way people treated her. Medical and police professionals acted appallingly and it felt a little unrealistic. This made sure that I didn’t connect with the majority of the characters, and I wasn’t particularly interested in their stories.

Slow paced and I did guess whodunnit early on. I didn’t guess the why, but when this was revealed I wasn’t very happy with it. An easy weekend read but a little too predictable for me.
