"Down the Sleepy River" by Emma Drage is a lovely children's book for reading at bedtime. The beautiful illustrations by Carmen Saldana are colourful and bright and will captivate any small child (and the adults doing the reading too).

This is a mindfulness book which is aimed at small children, attempting to get them settled at bedtime, as they say goodnight to different animals as they too prepare for sleep. The illustrations are bold and bright, and the amount of text is just about right for small children to follow. Although the font is large, it might be difficult to read in subdued lighting at bed time, but that is just a minor criticism. The book is lovely, and I particularly liked the foreword written by a wellbeing expert and yoga teacher (Dani Binnington) which explained the benefits of mindfulness.

The cover of the book is eye-catching, and one which I would definitely pick up in a bookshop. I look forward to reading it with my grandson.
