This is a truly captivating book for children which I think can be enjoyed on more than one level. The text really guides the parent and the child through an introduction to yogic breathing. There are some adults who find that difficult to master so it might be a challenge to get children to understand it. This book helps with the first steps. There’s a lovely almost soporific feel to the text which make it an ideal book to be read at bedtimes. The illustrations are quite lovely, using a vibrant yet calming colour palette. They depict a number of animals which could give rise to further discussions with the child and lead to thoughts about conservation and endangered species. Mindfulness is at the heart of the book and is, I believe, its main intent. Mindfulness is a much banded term in these enlightened times we live in perhaps not an easy concept for the younger child to grasp but this is a beautiful introduction.
