I loved this book and found it compelling reading on so many levels.

At the start of the book the main character Richard is not very likeable and as with other books of this type you carry on reading knowing that he is going to have an awakening.
It's the progression of the disease and the excellent way in which it is described that really takes hold of you and captures your imagination.
Some of the things the main character says are completely hearbreaking but so true. Such as 'If he were a brilliant theoretical physicist with ALS, he might hope for thirty more years. As a pianist with ALS, he's not buying any new calendars'. He also decribes himself as a being like a tourist in a museum in his own apartment, being allowed to look but not touch.
I sincerely hope that this enjoyable book is widely read, as it deserves to be and that it helps to raise awareness at the same time. I expect that like Still Alice this will be made into a film at some point in the future.
